YWAM Medical Ships · Papua New Guinea
At Marad, we proudly support a wide range of organisations, including relief efforts, museums, training ships, and sea cadet programmes.
As a family business, philanthropy is part of our identity. We give not for appearances but because we are rooted in our local community. Our support comes in the form of donations, product sponsorships, or both.
We stand firmly behind the mission and vision of the organisations we partner with. Below are some examples of these organisations.
Johannes van Urk
Chief Executive Officer, Marad
Donations
Financial support for organisations whose mission we believe in, from relief efforts to maritime museums.
Product sponsorship
Free or discounted use of the Marad platform, so the vessels behind good causes stay maintained, compliant, and ready to sail.
Humanitarian aid
YWAM delivers healthcare and training in extremely remote communities along the rivers and coastline of Papua New Guinea.
Search and rescue
A non-profit search and rescue organisation that protects lives at sea, with rescue missions in the Mediterranean.
Maritime heritage
The Dutch national museum for sea rescue in Den Helder, keeping the history of lifeboats and their volunteer crews alive.
Youth development
Sail training and personal development for young people, building confidence and skills through time at sea.
Product sponsorship
Rescue ships, medical ships, and training vessels need the same care as any commercial fleet. Where it helps, we give non-profit crews access to Marad, so they can plan maintenance, track spare parts, and keep certificates in order, and spend more of their time on the work that matters.
Marad for NGOs
Close to home
We donated three new survival suits to the volunteer crew of KNRM station Urk, who carry out search and rescue on the waters around our home port.
